- Velcro tie shoes are far more practical than shoes with laces.
- Choose a coat for your child that has a zip that they can manage to open and close themselves. Zips are easier than buttons for younger children. Help your child to practice putting on and taking off their coat.
- Choose a lunchbox that your child can open and close independently. Spend some time practicing opening and closing your child’s lunchbox and everything in them (yoghurt etc.) and bottles/beakers/packets.
- We have a healthy lunch policy – This is VERY IMPORTANT. Please remember not to give your child grated cheese, popcorn, crisps, nuts, peanut butter, fizzy drinks and large twin pots of yoghurt. We do allow a VERY SMALL fun-size FRIDAY TREAT.
- Schoolbags on wheels are a hazard for young children. Choose a school bag that is small enough for your child to manage on his/her own but large enough to fit an A4 size folder.
- Remind your child often of good Handwashing, Coughing and Sneezing etiquette. We are still living with CoVid 19 and we want to continue to keep everyone safe.
- Help your child to practice taking his/her track suit top off and putting it on – and turning it the right way round.
- Put LABELS/NAMES ON EVERYTHING - jumpers and coats etc. This will help to ensure nothing gets lost.
